I firmly believe that recipes should just be guidelines in the kitchen, and I heartily encourage everyone to color outside the lines as much as possible. Though I always prided myself in my precise skills at creating dark outlines around whatever I colored with crayons before carefully shading inside, I learned to stretch other creative boundaries. Trusting all your senses will lead to a freedom in the kitchen. If it looks good, smells good, tastes good...it will be good! So take all of these "recipes" as purely suggestions for getting you someplace you'd like to go and add your own shading.
