The Tweezer Times
The Tweezer Times™ is a publication of Foodesigns.com. It was first launched in 2001 as a quarterly online e-zine. Our magazine format worked well for several years, but became difficult to maintain, as each issue generally topped 50 pages. This new blog-style format allows us to upload articles or insights as they become available, rather than waiting until a new issue is due out. You also now have the ability to add your commentary. We do moderate comments, so know that it might take time for them to be posted. And we are looking for constructive additions to our articles–so we look forward hearing your experiences.
The goal of The Tweezer Times™ is to offer a wide variety of viewpoints from food photography professionals about business, techniques, and ways to stay inspired during our oft-times mundane job assignments. We are, after all, creative professionals, looking for innovation and ways to polish our craft. As editor of The Tweezer Times™, I’m always soliciting articles from colleagues (I make article assignments to stylists, photographers, editors, and designers from all over the world). So you’re not just reading my version of this business, in my own corner of the world. But know that I’m still a working food stylist, often sharing my own experiences if I think you can learn from them. I’m regularly surprised by what I learn myself on the job, even after 20 years in this business. And I’m constantly quizzing food shooters about what they are concerned about, so can include their perspectives on topics we deal with together on jobs. What makes The Tweezer Times™ different from a regular blog is that the content is presented as a professional development publication, with some personal experiences thrown in.
I’m always open to suggestions, story ideas, or anything you’d like to share (some of the best technique articles we’ve published have come from questions from readers at Foodesigns.com). You can contact me anytime at: learnmore@foodesigns.com.
Here’s to great style,
Lisa Golden Schroeder, editor
