Wilted boxed herbs or sad bunches of parsley or cilantro? Perk up none-too-fresh greenery with a simple solution: a lightly sweetened water bath. Fill a bowl with cool tap water; stir in a spoonful of sugar or corn syrup and a drop or two of liquid dish soap. Dip the stems of your herbs into the water solution, cleanly cutting the bottoms of the stems beneath the surface of the water. Let the herbs stand in the water solution at room temperature--and watch them come back to life. Use this for lively cut herbs too. To hold overnight, cover herbs with a plastic bag and refrigerate.
