A kitchen timer--a truly reliable one--is an essential in everyone's styling kit. Who can count on the studio oven or microwave timer to be accurate? Or even work... If you're baking, broiling, or just keeping track of any cooking task while trying to work under camera, you've got to have a good timer. One of our favorites: Polder's Electronic Clock, Timer, and Stopwatch ( www.amazon.com). It's easy to use, and portable (it's on a cord, so you can wear it around your neck). Polder also has a model that is a dual timer (we still mourn the demise of our favorite Westbend triple-timers, which are no longer made). If you need to have two ovens going or are multi-tasking (and who isn't in a studio kitchen?), a dual timer is great. Taylor One-Handed Timer is another good choice ( www.target.com); it's narrow and grippable and has a beeper that you won't miss.
