"Don't forget those thank-yous," says our favorite self-promotion guru, Ilise Benun. In her current online newsletter, she reminds us of the old-fashioned hand-written thank you note for special clients or job referrals. And she likes to include an individually-wrapped chocolate bar or a gift card for a fancy cup of coffee or a book. She says it's a simple and inexpensive marketing tool that makes a strong and positive impression.
It's also nice to thank someone who:
-
Took time to be a reference for you;
-
Referred you to someone else;
-
Reviewed your work;
-
Supplied you with some needed information;
-
Or simply went out of their way for you.
