Getting from point A to B loaded down with perishable food can be a challenge at best. Many of us have to drive miles to distant studios, cities, or locations--loaded down with coolers and fresh greens, fish, meat or dairy products that threaten to wilt, smell, or melt if they aren't kept cool. We've found a very cool product (maybe familiar to weekend sports enthusiasts who might use one to sooth pulled muscles), called the Polar Wrap Flexible Ice Blanket (www.lifoam.com). It's a quilted plastic "blanket", made up of water-filled cells that freeze into ice--and its design allows it to drape over foods in a cooler, providing better coverage than the traditional hard square of blue ice or other ice packs. Great for use in coolers or out on set (place a pie plate of shredded cheese on one to keep it from oiling out during pizza shoots).
