Chocolate Curls with Ease |

Here's a great example of problem solving, from Detroit stylist Dianne Long. Dianne shared her formula for making perfect bars of chocolate that are ready-made for gorgeous chocolate curls. Her method:
Purchase Crisco solid shortening in pre-portioned plastic trays. Remove shortening from trays (reserve shortening to use when making "faux" ice cream). Clean trays and dry well.
Melt together 6 ounces chopped semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate and 1-1/2 teaspoons solid shortening (Crisco). Pour mixture into a clean plastic tray. Lightly cover and allow to cool and harden at room temperature. When ready to make chocolate curls, the bars will pop out of the trays easily. Pull a vegetable peeler across the chocolate bar, creating pretty curls and shards for garnishing desserts.
