Some kind of glass cleaner, ammonia or vinegar-based, has been a studio staple forever. To clean props, set surfaces, or whatever needs a quick swipe to remove dust or the usual debris that seems to settle on clean spaces. But more and more we've noticed the use of isopropyl (rubbing) or ethyl alcohol as the cleaner of choice in the kitchen--especially when styling greasy foods (those frozen deep-fried appetizers or breaded chicken that seem to stain every plate they touch). Rubbing or ethyl alcohol, which is readily available with first-aid products in the pharmacy, is cheap too. And because its residue evaporates super quick with no streaking, it's a great option for cleaning props of fingerprints, little drips of oil, etc. Recently we saw a resourceful stylist replace the twist top of an alcohol bottle with a spray top. Move over Windex ® and Sparkle®!
