Foodesigns.com comes to you via Lisa Golden Schroeder, a veteran food stylist and writer with 25 years experience in the food business. Starting out with her own catering business to pay for college, she graduated to promoting food products in corporate test kitchens, doing a stint as a marketing manager for a food company, and working as a food editor and stylist for a cookbook publisher. Lisa launched her own consulting business, Foodesigns Culinary Consulting, focusing on food styling and recipe work in 1987. Foodesigns.com was launched in 2001, with the idea that it would provide the professional support lacking in the business of food photography.
A published cookbook author, culinary consultant, and teacher, Lisa holds a degree in Nutrition and Food Science/Journalism from the University of Arizona and an advanced culinary diploma from La Varenne Ecole de Cuisine in France.
As one of the long-time organizers of the Food on Film® food styling seminars in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she’s been an avid supporter of food styling education. She now teaches food styling workshops and seminars at both the University and community college levels + runs her own periodic classes, both live and online. She's current past chair of the Food Photographers & Stylists special interest section of the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP). In June 2007 she was program co-chair for the International Conference on Food Styling & Photography: A World View of Business, Techniques, and Design at Boston University. In 2005 she was honored with Business Person of the Year award by Twin Cities Home Economists in Business, the sponsoring organization for Food on Film®.
Lisa recognizes the need for an on-going forum for food stylists and food photographers to share information, get advice, learn about techniques, and generally have a place to go where the unique needs of food photography professionals are understood—as well as provide a much-needed source of information for those interested in the business. While she still is a busy stylist and recipe consultant, she collaborates with other experienced stylists, photographers and food professionals from all over the world tobring you the best, most accurate, and up-to-date information.
